Dr Ilias Mahmud

B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy, Master of Public Health, PhD inEpidemiology and Population Health

Dr Mahmud is an accomplished academic and researcher with over20 years of experience in higher education. He has contributedextensively to teaching, research, and academic leadership across multiple countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, England, andSaudi Arabia.

With a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, Dr Mahmud holds a B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy, a Master of Public Health,and a PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health from the LondonSchool of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His expertise spansresearch leadership, academic programme management, andwidening access to higher education.

Currently, he serves at a higher education institution in London,where he promotes widening participation among mature students.His role involves strategic leadership in programme development,securing programme approvals from awarding bodies such asPearson and various universities, and overseeing quality assurance,academic monitoring, and governance. In addition, he holds adjunctacademic positions at universities in Australia and Bangladesh,where he supervises postgraduate research students andcontributes to public health scholarship.

Dr Mahmud has played a pivotal role in public health education andresearch, previously serving as a Research Fellow, AssistantProfessor, and Research Higher Degree Supervisor in institutionsacross Australia, Bangladesh, England, and Saudi Arabia. Hisresponsibilities included curriculum design, research projectleadership, and quality assurance in public health education.

An active researcher, Dr Mahmud has authored over 65 publicationsin Scopus/Web of Science-indexed journals. His research focuseson epidemiology, social determinants of health, and public healthinterventions, with a particular emphasis on inclusion and equity. Hisresearch also informs pedagogical innovation and wideningparticipation for mature students, contributing to reducinginequalities in higher education.

Dr Mahmud has led several funded research projects, includingmulti-country consortium studies, advancing innovative solutions inhealthcare and education. He also serves on the editorial boards ofseveral peer-reviewed journals, including PLOS ONE, contributing tothe global advancement of public health research.

Dr.Sheikh Muktadir Bin Momin 

Sheikh Momin is an academic neurosurgical resident doctor committed to improving care

for people with brain injuries. He is currently training in neurosurgery at the University of

Birmingham and will soon begin a DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford, focusing on

concussion and brain health. Sheikh also has experience in digital health and is passionate

about using technology to make healthcare more accessible and sustainable.

He brings his clinical expertise and research insight to support the charity’s healthcare initiatives.
